Logicenters’ sustainable logistics project in Bålsta has reached the finals of the prestigious MIPIM Awards – as the only Swedish entry in the Best Industrial & Logistics Project category.
By combining innovative design with sustainable materials, the project has achieved an exceptionally low carbon footprint of 2.7 kg CO2/m²/year while also creating a work environment that promotes both employee well-being and biodiversity.
According to Logicenters, the facility is the world’s largest hemp-insulated logistics building and the first of its kind to extensively utilize bio-based materials. Featuring a wooden frame and hemp-insulated wall panels, the project has successfully reduced emissions by 88 percent compared to traditional building materials. The total climate impact is also half that of SGBC’s threshold for NollCO2 certification.

The project has also placed great emphasis on creating a pleasant and inspiring work environment. The site features lush green recreational areas, a stormwater pond, and an architecturally designed wooden pavilion, contributing to both biodiversity and increased employee well-being. Additionally, the wooden construction enhances indoor air quality, creating a warm and calming atmosphere.
The MIPIM Awards highlight the world’s most innovative and sustainable real estate projects that shape the future of the industry. Winners across eleven categories will be announced on March 13, 2025, at the MIPIM Awards Ceremony in Cannes.
